Storage yard waitlist: paper list vs app
Updated October 26, 2026 · For RV and boat storage yards
When a yard is full, the waitlist is your next year of rent. Many yards keep it on a clipboard or a notebook by the office phone: name, number, “30ft fifth wheel”, and a date.
Paper is fine until a space opens. Then someone has to read every entry, find the people whose rig fits, call them in order, and remember who said “not until spring”. The slower that goes, the longer the space sits empty.
Running a fair paper waitlist
- Write the date, name, phone, email, what they store and the length they need.
- Number entries in order and never squeeze names between lines.
- When a space opens, call the first person whose size fits, and write the date and the answer next to their name.
- Give each offer a deadline, then move on.
- Cross people out, don’t erase them, so you can explain the order if asked.

What an app won’t do
LotWait does not take waitlist sign-ups from your website; you add people yourself or import them from a spreadsheet. It also won’t decide who is next for you. It just keeps the order, the sizes and the offers in one place so the decision is quick and defensible.
